Thatcher is dead/Thatcher est morte

Last month I wrote on the death of a visionary and a true leader for the people, this post is on Margaret Thatcher. Her death doesn't come as a shock, her health has been ailing for years, but then again her ideals of economic neoliberalism don't seem to be faring any better. She had absolute scorn for working people organizing for their rights, her suppression of the miners strike in the 1980s set back British working people decades while her dismantling of the welfare state put many in poverty. On the international front she backed Augusto Pinochet, took Britain into an imperialist venture in the Falklands, and called Nelson Mandela a terrorist when he and the ANC struggled against the oppression of Apartheid. But sadly while she may be dead, her legacy of neoliberal austerity and suppression of working people from organizing lives on. One can only hope that we can live to see the day that Thatcherism is buried with her, and that solidarity, equality, and justice are the norm.

Le mois dernier, j'ai écrit sur la mort d'un visionnaire et un véritable chef de file pour le peuple, ce poste est sur Margaret Thatcher. Sa mort ne vient pas comme un choc, sa santé a été malade pendant des années, mais là encore ses idéaux de libéralisme économique ne semblent pas se porter mieux. Elle avait le mépris absolu pour les travailleurs s'organisent pour leurs droits, sa suppression de la grève des mineurs dans les années 1980 en retrait britanniques travaillant décennies de personnes, tandis que son démantèlement de l'État-providence mis beaucoup dans la pauvreté. Sur le plan international, elle soutenu Augusto Pinochet, a pris la Grande-Bretagne dans une aventure impérialiste dans les Malouines, et a appelé Nelson Mandela de terroriste quand il et l'ANC a lutté contre l'oppression de l'apartheid. Mais malheureusement, alors qu'elle peut être mort, son héritage d'austérité néolibérale et de suppression des personnes travaillant à l'organisation de la vie sur. On ne peut qu'espérer que nous puissions vivre pour voir le jour que le thatchérisme est enterré avec elle, et que la solidarité, l'égalité et la justice sont la norme.
